Brownie Brittle

If you are a fan of the crispy outer edge of the brownie pan...then this recipe is for you! Brownies have never tasted so good! Crispy and full of flavor! This easy recipe puts the fun back into making brownies.


Directions

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees and line two cookie sheets with parchment paper.

2. In a small bowl add flour, baking soda and salt. Whisk until incorporated. Set aside.

3. In a microwave safe medium bowl, add the butter and the semi-sweet chocolate chips.

4. On half power, microwave the chocolate and butter in 15 second increments stirring in between until all the chocolate is melted and smooth.

5. Add the cocoa powder and sugar to the melted chocolate. Stir until combined.

6. Add the egg whites and vanilla. Stir until combined.

7. Slowly stir flour mixture into batter and mix until incorporated.

8. Stir in the milk and mix until combined.

9. Pour half the batter on one of the prepared cookie sheets. With a spatula, spread the batter very thin and smooth. Repeat with other baking sheet.

10. Sprinkle both sheets with mini-chocolate chips, toffee bits or some combination of the two.

11. Bake sheets one at a time for 17-19 minutes or until the edges of the brownie are just starting to burn.

12. Remove from oven. Using a sharp knife or a pizza cutter, trim off the burned edges and cut the brittle into pieces.

13. Allow brittle to cool completely before breaking into pieces. If desired make a chocolate sauce and drizzle over brownie brittle pieces.

  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 2 egg whites
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons milk
  • 1/4 cup toffee bits
  • 1/4 cup mini chocolate chips
  • Chocolate drizzle

NOTES:

If desired make a chocolate sauce and drizzle over brownie brittle pieces. To make the chocolate sauce, use 1/2 cup of semi-sweet chocolates and a 1/2 teaspoon of coconut oil. Microwave the chocolate and oil on half power in 15 second increments stirring in between until all the chocolate is melted and smooth. Drizzle the chocolate sauce over the brittle with a spoon or using a piping bag.
