An updated version of one of our favorite cookies! Everyone needs a great chocolate chip cookie recipe…this is ours!

I like my chocolate chip cookies soft and a little cakey. If you prefer cookies that are more dense…cut the flour from 1 1/2 to 1 1/4 cups and leave out the cornstarch.

1. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cornstarch, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
2. Add butter to a large bowl. With a hand mixer or a stand mixer, beat until creamy.
3. Add brown sugar and sugar. Beat until combined.
4. Add egg and vanilla and beat for another minute until well combined.
5. Add flour mixture and mix on low until all of the flour is incorporated scraping the sides when necessary.
6. Gently fold in the chocolate chips. Leave 2 tablespoons for finishing touches.
7. Cover dough and place in refrigerator to chill for 30 minutes.
8. Preheat oven to 350 degrees and line cookie sheets with parchment paper.
9. Scoop a tablespoon amount of dough using a cookie scoop or a spoon and place on the prepared baking sheet 2 inches apart from one another.
10. Bake cookies for 10 minutes at 350 degrees. Do not over-bake your cookies.
11. Let them cool on cookie sheet.
12. For a special touch…add the extra chocolate chips one by one to the warm cookies to get that professional chocolate chip cookie look.
