Ingredients:
Puff Pastry
- 2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup butter, cold and cubed
- 1/2 cup sour cream
Topping
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon

How to cook Homemade Puff Pastry Cinnamon Twists
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, salt and baking powder.
- Add the cubed butter.
- Chop the butter together with the flour using a pastry cutter or your hands. You can also use a food processor.
- Work the butter into the flour until most of the flour is combined with the butter into small pea shapes.
- Add the sour cream.
- With your hands or a spoon, mix the sour cream into the dough until it barely holds together.
- Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface.
- Knead the dough a few times into a log.
- Roll out the dough into a 10x12 rectangle.
- Fold the dough into thirds like a letter.
- Rotate 90 degrees and roll out to a rectangle again.
- Fold the dough again into thirds like a letter.
- Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least an hour.
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll out chilled dough onto a lightly floured surface to a 8 x 10 rectangle. Trimming the edges if necessary.
- In a small bowl, combine sugar and cinnamon.
- Spread melted butter on top with a pastry brush and then sprinkle with cinnamon/sugar mixture.
- Flip dough and repeat on the other side.
- With a sharp knife and a ruler, cut 10 equal 1-inch pieces of dough.
- Twist each piece 4 or 5 times and place on the baking sheet evenly spaced.
- Place twists in the oven and bake for 16-18 minutes.
- Remove from oven and let cool completely on a wire rack.
- Sprinkle with extra cinnamon/sugar if desired.
Notes:
You can freeze the puff pastry sheets for a few months and use when needed.
