One-Pot Creamy Italian Sausage and Kale Pasta

Creamy Italian Sausage and Kale Pasta is an easy, flavorful, and comforting dish that is ready in less than 45 minutes! A delightful blend of hearty Italian sausage, nutritious kale, and tender pasta, all combined in a luscious creamy sauce. This comforting dish is perfect for a cozy family dinner, with flavors that will leave everyone asking for seconds.

Ingredients

  • 16 ounces Italian sausage, casing removed (chicken, turkey, or pork)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil, divided
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2- 14 ounce diced tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 16 ounces farfalle pasta
  • 1/4 cup cream cheese
  • 6 cups fresh kale, stems removed and torn into bite-size pieces
  • Parmesan cheese for garnish

Notes

You can use any type of pasta you want for this recipe, but I find it best to use a medium shaped pasta like farfalle or rotini. 

You can make this recipe using any type of Italian sausage.  Chicken, turkey, or pork.

Directions

1. Start by heating 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet or Dutch oven on medium heat.

2. Add the sausage to the skillet and break it apart. Cook it for about 5-6 minutes until it turns brown and is mostly cooked.

3. Once the sausage is cooked, remove it from the skillet and set it aside on a plate.

4. Now, add the remaining olive oil to the skillet.

5. Add the onions to the skillet and sauté them for around 5-6 minutes until they become tender.

6. Next, add the garlic and cook it for another minute until it becomes fragrant.

7. Time to add the tomatoes, spices, and broth to the skillet. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat.

8. Now, add the pasta and cooked sausage back into the skillet. Reduce the heat to medium-low and let it simmer for about 10 minutes.

9. Add the cream cheese to the skillet and stir it until it melts.

10. Lastly, add the kale to the skillet and stir it until it wilts.

 

11. Remove the skillet from the heat and if you'd like, sprinkle some Parmesan cheese on top. Now, it's time to enjoy your meal!
